Twonky Beam Windows 7 32bit to xbox 360

Postby JoeOldendick » Sun Aug 28, 2011 4:30 pm

I have an xbox 360, a Dell inspiron 9300 with Windows 7 Ultimate.
Both devies are on the 192.168.0.xxx network.
I have media center installed on the laptop and a few times I was able to see the xbox in twonkybeam,
but when I go to youtube, select a video in twonkybeam and then hit play...nothing hapens.

The laptop has a fresh load of windows 7 and windows firewall has been disabled and stopped.
I have media center running on the laptop when I test.

I have checked media center and checked the box to allow computers to push videos/pictures.

If anyone has any idea or hints on what to look at to get this to work I would appreciate it.

XBOX and Laptop can see other devices on the network.

Also this is a wired connection. and currently network tuning is working on the xbox 360 and on the laptop.

The laptop's Windows 7 firewall is disabled and at the moment I have no anitvirus or 3rd party firewall installed.

The laptop and xbox360 are actually plugged into a router configured as a switch (WIRED).

I formatted my laptop, reinstalled Windows 7, ran windows update and disabled Windows Firewall.
Optimize network still works to an from the laptop-xbox360 however when I try to push an image, music
or video links.

Will update if I find or change anything else.

Make sure you're using the 1.6 version of TwonkyBeam. http://www.twonky.com/upfiles/TwonkyBeam_Setup.exe

We just fixed a problem last week that allows YouTube to work again.

Rick,

Thank you so much for the reply. I reloaded my computer with windows xp 7 32bit disabled fireall and defender..
I dd automatic updates from m$

1.6 is the only version that has been installed on this computer.
At this point I can optimize network from both the 360 and the laptop.,,I can see the xbox 360 in the twonky window,, (I have already configured Media Center for the xbox)..I can see the xbox 360 in the TwonkyBeam IE Window..but when I select Music, Videos or youtube....nothing happens.

I don't have much experience with twonky before 1.6...if any but I have tried twonky server and that seemed to work fine

Let me know if you have any suggestions

Interesting. If you can see the Xbox in Beam, it seems like you've set up everything correctly. Make sure your firewall isn't block TwonkyBeam, it's control point or it's server.

There are some other suggestions here, if you scroll down in the thread.

In the meantime, we'll confirm that we can still beam to Xbox here. It's possible that MS made a change which breaks things. I'll let you know what we find later today.

We have confirmed that TwonkyBeam is no longer working properly with Xbox 360. As a result, we have opened a support ticket on this issue. To check status on this issue in the future, please ask me about tmpwi-973.

Thanks for the offer. We haven't been able to start work on this yet because the person who will probably fix this is working on getting TwonkyBeam to work with Firefox 6.0 and that has turned out to be a very difficult problem.
