We just uploaded a new version of TwonkyBeam for Mac. Sounds like the original one became corrupted during the upload.

- Make sure to refresh your browser before downloading
- Save the file to your desktop -- instead of opening it directly.
- The file should be ~4.2MB. If it's smaller than that, download it again using the Safari browser, that seems to work everytime.

I have a fully optimized WDTV Live system operating over an 11N dual band network served from an Netgear WNDR3700 Router. 1080 mkv video streams flawlessly using either Twonky Server 4.4.18 on our networked D-LINK DNS-323 drive or from media shares on our various PCs, however videos pushed from TwonkyBeam in Firefox 3.6.3 play VERY erratically even from Twonky's own recommended video "sites". By comparison videos from the on-board Youtube feature of the WDTV usually play flawlessly. Typically TwonkyBeam pushed videos will start well (after a typically long pause of 30-40 seconds) but after a minute or so they invariably begin stuttering / stalling which suggests buffering issues. Twonky Beam has promise but also clearly a LONG way to go before it is ready for 'Prime Time'......

Additionally the IE8 experience is even worse. Videos that aren't even highlighted (again on Twonky's own recommended sites such as NASA) and therefore unselectable. And what is with the Blue 'Play' button people ? It glows blue when pressed and turns off again seemingly with a mind of its own. Mostly the experience of using Twonky Beam is 1) Wondering what will be selectable (50/50) 2) Will it play (60/40 against) ?, and 3) Will it play without stuttering all the way to end (80/20 against). The entire experience feels "Hit & Miss" and frankly a big waste of time. No way should this product have been considered ready for release.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear that your experience wasn't better.

- A users experience with TwonkyBeam is very dependent on the devices they are using. Some devices support a wide range of formats and buffer quickly. Others only play a few formats. Our links were selected because they work with many, but not all devices.

- Stuttering has nothing to do with TwonkyBeam. It's a function of your Internet connection, device and the site you're visiting. Some users can stream HD video without ever buffering.

- We display links when a page contains playable media.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I appreciate that the experience with Twonky products is hardware specific but have also read (in Twonky forums as I recall) that Twonky Beam supposedly works better with WDTV Live than with many other devices.

If that is the case, the other devices wouldn't warrant considering ;)

I can also confirm that the stuttering issue on Twonky beamed videos is unlikely to be a network issue as the same videos play perfectly when played directly within the browser serving 'Twonky Beam' or when 'pulled' by the WDTV LIVE using its native You-Tube feature.

Again, Twonky Beam is an interesting concept but in my experience using it with my WDTV LIVE, Twonky Beam has still quite a way to go before it is "ready for it's close-up".
